Managing Director, Welman Digital
Carolyn has over 25 years of experience defining and deploying technologies to increase business effectiveness. She specializes in change management, organizational design, business process engineering, and enterprise product design — and believes strongly in empowering cross-functional teams to improve business results through use of analytics.
Carolyn currently serves as Managing Director with Welman Digital Media, a full-service management consulting firm working with publishing and media clients on how to make change happen. Prior to this, Carolyn held a variety of senior executive roles, including VP, Operations at Sterling Publishing Company, a division of Barnes & Noble, Inc. from 2013 - 2016. Prior, she worked at HarperCollins from 1991 - 2013 in senior management positions in managing editorial, business development, consumer sales forecasting, digital asset management, and digital marketing. As Senior Vice President, Publishing Transformation, her last role at HarperCollins, she launched the company's global author services effort as well as developed several internal software applications to improve companywide productivity and business insight.
Carolyn holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Colgate University and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, respectively, and is a 2004 graduate of the Executive Information Technology Management program at Columbia University. She has taught in the Columbia, New York University, Yale, and Pace publishing programs and is a frequent presenter on creating learning organizations that innovate faster.
